Mike Jones is to stand down as chairman of Newtown Football Club.
Two seasons after taking the helm at Latham Park Jones has informed the club that he will be resigning at the annual meeting on June 14.
The chairman told the club's web site of his decision this morning announcing that he felt he had taken the club as far as he could.
"I am very sad to be going but it is time for someone else to take the reins," he said.
"The club has tremendous potential and with Andy Cale at the helm and will never
have a better opportunity. The board must grab that opportunity without fail.
"
The chairman explained that his vision for the club's future was at odds with that of some of his fellow board members."We must as a club look to progress and always look to improve," he said.
"We have taken huge strides both on and off the field during the last two years and have developed the foundations for a bright future for Newtown Football Club.
"We have the infrastructure in place to become a leading Welsh Premier League club. Latham Park is recognised as the best ground in the league and in my opinion we have the best possible management team.
"But not everyone at the club shares my vision for the future and I have to respect those opinions," he added.
