Newtown suffered a shock defeat in the quarter final of the Nathaniel MG Cup at Latham Park tonight – beaten on penalties by STM Sports.
The Robins were expected to make short work of the South Walians who arrived late for the tie leading to a delayed kick-off.
But STM Sports started the brighter and led after five minutes through Ahum and it was not until the 34th minute that Rushton levels the scoring.
On the hour Bateman restored the visitors’ lead from the penalty spot after Mills-Evans handled before Kenton quickly made it level again.
Two players were red carded in a final-whistle scuffle before the Robins went down 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out.
