Guilsfield and Llanidloes edged their way into the second round of the Welsh Cup after a tough day for the local clubs.
Guilsfield beat a spirited Brymbo side 2-1 while Llanidloes needed penalties to win at Trefelin, but there were defeats for Four Crosses, Montgomery Town, Caersws and Waterloo Rovers.
A goal in each half condemned Newtown to defeat at Airbus Broughton in the JD Cymru Premier.
Berriew and Welshpool Town clawed their way upwards in the MMP Mid Wales League with victories, and there was a good win on the road for Dyffryn Banw in Division Two.
