Rugby cup action this weekend

19/09/2019 @ 08:42

Clubs will take a day off from their league fixtures this Saturday as they start on the road to the Cup Finals which will take place at the Principality Stadium next May, writes Gary Williams from Oval Zone Rugby.

COBRA have a tricky home tie in the first round of the WRU Plate against Pwllheli, who will arrive at Meifod with confidence after securing two wins in their opening league games of the season.

COBRA are always a difficult team to beat at Cae Meifod and, following on from their midweek win against Dolgellau, they’ll be looking to cause an upset and move in to the next round.

Welshpool, without a game last weekend, host Bangor in the WRU National Bowl Round One. Although Bangor have lost their opening two games of the season, Pool will take nothing for granted as traditionally the visitors have always proved difficult opponents.

Llanidloes, victors over Newtown last weekend, have it all to do again this week as they make the short trip to Newtown in the Bowl for another intriguing Mid Wales derby battle. Still smarting from last week’s narrow defeat at Cae Hafren, Newtown will be hoping home advantage and cheered on by a large crowd, will allow them to gain revenge. Llani, however, will have other ideas.

What a weekend we have in store!
