Newtown, Guilsfield advance

10/08/2019 @ 06:15

Newtown and Guilsfield are through to the third round of the Nathaniel MG Cup on a windy afternoon of local football action.

Newtown saw off the threat of a dogged Ammanford side 2-0, while Adam Jenins slotted home late on to give the Guils a 1-0 win over Llandudno. Llanfair United bowed out 4-0 at Airbus.

If the opening weekend is anything to go by, we are in for an interesting MMP Mid Wales League season.

There were wins for Llanidloes, Welshpool Town, Four Crosses and Kerry, but last year’s title chasers Berriew and Caersws both lost on opening day.

Forden United marked their first venture into Mid Wales football with a 5-1 win at Abermule, and Waterloo Rovers won at home against Newbridge.
