Abermule rocked as manager quits

Spar Division Two side Abermule are looking for a new manager after the current men in charge decided to step aside.

Manager Steven Morris and coach Mike Fletcher announced their decision last night and it comes after the club finished a solid 10th in their first season in Mid Wales football.

It is believed the pair had made their minds up some time back but decided to stay on and steer the club until the end of the season.

“With regret, myself and Fletch have decided to step down as manager/coach of Abermule FC,” said Morris. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the players and those who have supported us over the years. We hope the current squad stays together as a team and with a little bit more community support in upgrading the facilities on and around the pitch, it will be a great club for younger players to make the step up into senior football.

“We wish the new management and Abermule Fc all the best in the future.”

A club spokesperson said the pair had done a “terrific job” and have launched their search for a replacement.
