Monty beat weather, but not Sentinal

Cricket was hit hard by the weather on its opening day, with only Montgomery managing to see some action in the Shropshire Division Two.

But it was not the start that they were looking for, going down to an eight-wicket defeat in a reduced 35-over match to beat the weather at Sentinel II.

Despite a good start with Andrew Barker (57) and Thomas Corfield (27) providing a solid opening, Montgomery limped to 134-8 which the Shrewsbury side achieved with 10 overs to spare and the loss of just two wickets.
