Llanidoes Town have gone eight points clear at the top of the MMP Mid Wales League following a 3-2 Friday night win at Welshpool Town.
That win, coupled with Caersws being in Cup action, saw the Daffs open their lead at the top, but Llanfair United are emerging as their biggest threat after a 5-0 win at Churchstoke kept them 12 off the top but with five games in hand.
Waterloo Rovers suffered a huge blow to their Division Two top two hopes after losing 1-0 against Aberystwyth University, a defeat that sees them fall further behind Montgomery Town at the top after they edged past Dolgellau 2-1.
In the top flight, Newtown suffered a second consecutive defeat in the JD Welsh Premier, going down 5-0 at TNS.
Llanrhaeadr broke their losing streak to stop their slide towards the relegation zone in the Huws Gray Alliance.
Despite some solid performance, Llanrhaeadr appeared to have lost their magic touch, but it returned yesterday with Iwan Matthews scoring in the 68th minute for a 1-0 win over Denbigh.
Guilsfield were held to a 1-1 draw by Penrhyncoch.
Radnor Valley are enjoying the Central Wales Cup this season after overcoming Caersws on penalties to advance. The game finished 3-3 after extra time before Radnor went through 9-8. The win follows their victory in the last round at favourites Guilsfield.
There were also third round wins for Berriew, Builth Wells and Bow Street.
