Newtown want to finish with a flourish

11/01/2019 @ 12:35

With a top six place already secured, Newtown will be looking to enjoy their final first phase match of the JD Welsh Premier season before the league splits in two.

Visitors Cefn Druids are resigned to life in the second tier, but will be hoping to catch a Newtown side off guard after they went down 4-0 to TNS last week.

Manager Chris Hughes said his Robins are at full strength, with Shrewsbury Town loan signing George Hughes expected to figure.

The Robins will also be hoping to finish the phase unbeaten at home following seven wins and three draws in the league this season.

Meanwhile, Guilsfield and Llanraeadr will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Huws Gray Alliance.

League defeats last weekend were followed by tough midweek Central Wales Cup matches which saw Llanrhaeadr edge Rhayader 4-2, but inconsistent Guilsfield slump to a shock home defeat on penalties against Radnor Valley.

On Saturday, Guilsfield travel to Gresford Athletic, while Llanrhaeadr host Holyhead Hotspur.

Our last two remaining teams in the fifth round of the FAW Trophy both hit the road as they bid to reach the last eight. Berriew head to Plas Madoc while Four Crosses travel to Bodedern Athletic.

MMP Mid Wales League leaders Llanidloes Town host local rivals Carno, while Caersws look to build some rhythm at Builth Wells after a disappointing month. Welshpool Town, with new signing Jack Harris, host Llansantffraid Village.

In Division Two, Montgomery Town and Waterloo Rovers face tricky away days.

The amateur league sees a mix of league and cup games, with Division One title chasers Forden United heading to Llanfyllin Town.
