Maldwyn Harriers continues to produce talent with two of their junior athletes qualifying to represent their country at the Virgin London Mini Marathon in April.

Ollie Jones (left) and Callum Morgan (right) took part in the North Wales Region 3000m time trials at a bitterly cold Deeside stadium, with the winner of each race category guaranteeing their place in the Welsh team.

Welshpool based Morgan got off to a good start in the opening race of the evening in the Under 13 boys age group; he ran an extremely well-paced race pulling away with two laps to go to claim victory.

Jones had to wait until the last race of the evening and led from the off to totally dominate the Under 15 boys race.

They both rounded off a very successful week by winning their respective age groups at the North Wales Cross Country Championships in Corwen on Saturday, as we reported yesterday.

Other athletes Carys Breeze, Maddie Griffiths and Aled Breeze will have to wait to see if they have qualified based on their times once all other regions have run their respective Time Trials at the end of January.
