Newtown defender Ben Bailey has left the Welsh Premier League outfit for Northern Premier League Premier Division outfit Hednesford Town FC.
The centre-back had been a prominent figure in the Newtown first team this season, and his departure will be a big blow to manager Chris Hughes and his side’s chances of securing a top six spot come the end of Phase One.
Bailey has returned to Hednesford where he spent his formative years before moving on to AFC Telford.
Newtown currently sit in the final top six spot, leading Caernarfon Town by two points heading into the final stretch of Phase One. The departure leaves Hughes short at the back, with Kieron Mills-Evans the only other recognised centre half.
