24/04/2011 @ 07:28

Graham Evans popped up with a last minute penalty to rescue a point for Caersws at Technogroup Welshpool.

The curtain came down on Welshpool's home season in the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance League in dramatic fashion.

Just when Pool looked like signing off in style up popped Graham Evans to snatch a last minute penalty and earn the villagers a 2-2 draw.

Pool got off to a bad start with Rob Dean outting through his own net but Jamie Breese struck back on 30 minutes and reserve team striker Luke Weaver put the home side ahead on 38 minutes. The last ditch spot kick was a sickening blow for the Lilywhites.

Guilsfield went down 1-0 at home to Penrhyncoch with Tony Jones getting the only goal on 32 minutes while Rhayader suffered a 2-0 defeat at Buckley.

Gap Connah's Quay cclinched the title with a 0-0 draw with Cefn Druids as Rhyl slipped up, losing 2-1 at home to Flint.

Berriew and Llanrhaeadr continued their scrap for the Spar Mid Wales League championship with both village sides collecting three points.

Berriew crushed Dolgellau 4-0 while Llanrhaeadr proved too strong for Bow Street, winning 2-0.

Carno won 2-0 at home to Presteigne but Llanidloes continued to disappoint only managing a 2-2 draw at home to Waterloo Rovers. Dyffryn Banw crashed 6-1 at Tywyn/Bryncrug.

Montgomery reached the semi-final of the leaguue cup, winning 2-0 at home to Rhosgoch while in the second division Abermule went down 2-1 at Aberaereon and Four Crosses drew 1-1 with Llandrindod.

There was a better result for Dyffryn Banw Reserves in the Mid Wales Trophies Consolation Cup with a 3-1 win at Bettws. They needed extra time though. Paul Davies, Dafydd Evand and Mabon ap Gwyn netted for Banw with an Aled Hughes penalty the Bettws response.

Kerry Res  are also through to the next round, beating Trefonen 3-1. Joe Evans, Ben Davies and Luke Mumford netted for Kerry with PaulMorris on target for the visitors.

Caersws Reserves won 3-1 at home to Berriew Reserves in Honda Division One. James Coleman, Shane Swanson and Ben Hendleman netted for the Bluebirds with Lewis Sim replying for Berriew.
