Robins go for fifth straight win

After four wins in a row, Newtown could be forgiven for feeling in a confident mood, but The Robins will be taking nothing for granted when they go into Friday night’s JD Welsh Premier encounter at Bala Town.

Newtown dug deep to clinch a hard earned win over Barry Town last week, a victory that saw them move up to third on the table, but defeat tonight could see them slip back to mid-table such is the early season clamber behind the top two.

Meanwhile, Guilsfield and Llanrhaeadr return to Huws Gray Alliance action with away days, but the match of the day sees neighbours Caersws and Llanidloes lock horns in the MMP Mid Wales League, with the latter keen to get their title bid back on track following a shock midweek defeat at home to Kerry.

Giant killing will be on the minds of several JT Hughes Amateur League clubs when the Central Wales Cup kicks off this weekend.

The opening round sees several amateur league clubs taking on Spar Two opposition with the likes of Forden United, Trewern, Llangedwyn and Llanymynech all out to make their mark.
