Newtown fall to defeat

08/09/2018 @ 09:46

Newtown missed out on the chance to go top of the Welsh Premier after crashing to a 3-0 defeat at Carmarthen.

Manager Chris Hughes has said there will be no over reaction, but is looking for his players to respond after goals either side of half time from Luke Bowen and a third from Liam Thomas gave the home side a second win on the bounce.

In the MMP Mid Wales League top flight, wins for Berriew and Llanidloes keep things interesting at the top of the table, but Churchstoke remain in trouble after defeat at home to Kerry.

Waterloo Rovers were involved in the result of the day after sharing 10 goals in their Division Two match at Borth United.

The 5-5 draw keeps both teams just below the pacesetters, with Montgomery Town and Four Crosses occupying the top two positions after their victories in south Powys.

There were wins for Bishop’s Castle and Forden United in the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire Amateur League’s first division, and Newtown Wanderers hit Llanfechain for six in the second division.
