Caersws lose 100% record

Caersws lost their 100% record in the MMP Mid Wales League last night and had to come from behind to deny Llanfair a famous victory.

Llanfair and Caersws remain unbeaten but Llanfair ended the home side’s 10 per cent record in a highly entertaining 1-1 draw at the Recreation Ground.

Josh Astley finishes a low Ryan McVeagh cross from the right to put Llanfair ahead after 59 minutes only for top scorer Elliot Jones to equalise with his 8th goal of the season 10 minutes from time.

Guilsfield reacted to a blasting from manager Nathan Leonard by crushing neighbours Llanrhaeadr 5-0 in the Huws Gray Alliance last night.

Leonard described last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Ruthin as the worst performance since he had been at the club and ordered an improvement. He got the response he demanded.

The outstanding Steve Blenkinsop grabbed a hat-trick in a runaway 5-0 win with veteran Danny Barton also on the scoresheet with a freekick which went straight through the Llanrhaeadr wall.

Welshpool Town suffered a Mid Wales League setback, going down 3-0 at home to Builth Wells.

After a goalless first half, in which Welshpool dominated, Builth put in an excellent second half performance to run out 3-0 winners.

A brace from Luke Hicks on his league debut and one from Brad Rollinson ensured Builth claimed the three points.
