Newtown & Berriew win Welsh titles

A team of Berriew bowlers (above)won the Welsh Womens Bowling Association Rinks Championships at Carmarthen yesterday (Sunday).

The line-up of Nerys Lewis, Hazel Wilson, Isobel Jones and Caroline Taylor beat a foursome from Pontyfelin 15-14 in the final to clinch the Welsh title.

In the semi-final the Berriew girls defeated Llandrindod and nw go on to represent Wales in the British Championships in Jersey next June.

Newtown's Karen Hopkins, Hilary Owen, Gill James and Christine Barr (pictured below) won the Wales Over-55s competition.
