Two new signings for Robins

Newtown have announced two more new signings ahead of the Welsh Premier League season.

The Robins have added experienced football league midfielder Steve Leslie along with Guilsfield’s flying forward Jake Cook to their ranks with the big kick-off just a couple of weeks away.

Leslie is a  30 year old Scottish-born midfielder predominantly playing on the left side, and has been training with the Robins in pre-season. He played 100 games for Shrewsbury before spells at Telford, Worcester, Rushall Olympic, Solihull Moors and Corby Town.

Cook was a scholar worth Stoke City, before being released and joining Guilsfield. He signed for Airbus but after a brief spell re-joined the Guils.He has impressed manager Chris Hughes in training.

Newtown won 3-0 at Oswestry Town last night after beating a strong Shrewsbury Town side 1-0 on Saturday.
