St Giles Golf Club’s prestigious JT Hughes Monthly Medal trophy saw some remarkable scoring in hot and humid conditions.

Youngster Rhys Edkins (3) picked up the trophy with a gross 68, net 65, breaking the course record in the process.

Making a rare appearance, picking up runner-up, was Neil Lewis (5) with a gross 71, net 66, beating club captain Gary Rimmer (7) also with a net 66 on a card count-back.

There was a special mention for junior club member, 14-year-old Connor Owen, who finished runner up in the Scottish Boys Under 16 championship at Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club, Inverness with an impressive seven under 277, two shots behind Italian winner Matteo Cristoni, with Martin Couvra, of France, in third on five under.

This Saturday sees the Llewellyn Pairs Trophy with tee off times of 9am and 1pm.
