Former Aberystwyth Town and Bangor City midfielder Damien Allen has become Newtown’s first new summer signing.

The experienced Welsh Premier League midfielder spent the back end of last season at the Seasiders, and has now agreed a switch to Latham Park.

The 31-year-old has become the club's first new addition, and Hughes was delighted to add further experience to his squad ahead of pre-season.

He said: "Damien has had a good career, and brings with him a wealth of experience both in England and in the Welsh Premier League.

"Technically he is a really good player and will bring a lot of qualities to the club.

"We're delighted to get the deal done and we look forward to working with him."

Allen was a product of the Stockport County youth system, and went on to make 57 appearances for the club before moving to Royal Antwerp.

On his return to English football in 2007, he joined Morecambe before a spell with FC Halifax Town.

He later signed a one year deal at Bury, but soon after joined Colwyn Bay.

It was then he made the switch to the WPL, signing for Bangor in 2011.

He spent seven years with the Citizens, before signing for Aberystwyth in January this year.
