While Llanrhaeadr may have clinched one of the most comfortable Spar One titles in recent memory, they were made to work hard by Welshpool Town this weekend.
Pool, who have led the table for large portions of the season, signed off for the season with a dogged display at Llanrhaeadr, but the hosts took the 4-3 victory required to clinch the title with a whopping five games left to play.
Llanidloes kept their hopes of second alive with a 3-1 win, but Llanfair United lost at Aberaeron and Berriew slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Llandrindod Wells.
In the Huws Gray Alliance, Guilsfield guaranteed at least a fifth place finish by signing off with 2-0 win at Holywell Town, but the Caersws woes continued with a disappointing 4-1 loss at Holyhead Hotspur to remain just three points off the bottom two with two games to play.
The match of the day in the Amateur League didn’t disappoint with Bishop’s Castle’s 3-3 draw with Four Crosses, putting Guilsfield Reserves right back in the mix after they beat Llanfyllin 4-3 in a thriller.
Meanwhile, in the second division, Forden United maintained their 100% record with a 5-0 win at Abermule Reserves.
