Newtown aim for winning finish

Newtown will look bring the curtain down on their season tonight at Aberystwyth Town, hoping for revenge from their semi-final Welsh Cup defeat earlier this month.

Since that exit, the Robins are unbeaten after a draw at Barry and a win against Prestatyn last week, and manager Chris Hughes is keen to give the faithful a winning finish.

He told the club’s official web site: “You always want to finish strong and we always get a good following at Aber.

“Our performances and results since going out in the cup have been really good and we’ve secured eighth now so we want to finish well. And it will give the players something to take into next season if we can win.”

The game has nothing riding on it, with the Robins and Aber both safe, however Hughes insisted his side won’t be taking their foot of the peddle at Park Avenue.
