12/04/2018 @ 07:26

Latham Park will play host to the 131st JD Welsh Cup Final between Aberystwyth Town and Connah’s Quay Nomads next month.

The final, which will take place on Sunday May 6 at 2.45pm, will be the fifth time the ground has hosted the Welsh football showpiece, the last being between Robins and TNS in 2015.

Club chairman Howard Ellis was delighted that Latham Park has again been chosen to host the final.

He said: “We are very proud of our club facilities and we extend a warm welcome to the finalists Aberystwyth and Connah’s Quay, their directors and supporters.

“It will not only be a great occasion for our club, but also for Newtown itself.”

In the past Bangor City and Rhyl have both lifted the Welsh Cup at Latham Park, while Aberystwyth recorded their one and only final win back in 1900.

Andrew Howard, FAW Head of Competitions, said: “We are delighted to return to Latham Park in Newtown for the 2018 JD Welsh Cup Final.

“The club were excellent hosts in the 2015 Final and the venue showcases the very best of facilities in mid-Wales.

“We also hope that the local communities in Newtown and throughout Powys will also embrace the occasion.”

Tickets for the game are £8, £4 and £1.
