Newtown lose winning touch

Newtown Football Club fell silent for a minute to remember club stalwart Roy Francis last night, but the players couldn’t produce the win that would have made the long-time volunteer look down and smile.

The Robins were undone by two second half Bala goals scored within two minutes of each other that condemned Newtown to their fourth JD Welsh Premier match without a win.

Earlier, Joe Kenton brought Newtown level following a 12th minute opener from Jordan Evans, but Bala secured the win with the quick-fire goals from Mike Hayes and a second for Evans.
