It’s tight at the top of the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire Amateur League Division One after Caersws Reserves sent a strong message to Llanidloes Reserves that they will pressure them all the way to the end of the season.

With Llanidloes not in league action, The Bluebirds recorded an emphatic 4-0 win at Berriew Reserves with Scott Williams bagging two with Tom Lapworth and Chris Morris adding two more.

Meanwhile, Guilsfield Reserves are improving in Division One after beating Bettws 3-0 with an early second half onslaught. Sam Griffiths, Phil Turnbull and Vinney Davies all scored after the break for a comfortable three points to stay in touch with the top.

Technogroup Welshpool Reserves placed one foot into next season’s Division One after a 3-0 victory over Dyffryn Banw Reserves in division two.

While the first team has been hogging the headlines all season for various reasons, the Reserves have quietly gone about their business and are red hot favourites after their latest win, with top scorer Luke Weaver (2) and Ieuan Conlin on the mark.

In the Llanidloes Town League Cup second round, Llanfair Reserves needed extra time and penalties to see off Kerry Reserves after finishing 2-2. Carl Danson and Joe Evans scored for Kerry but Jon Richards and Freddie Watkins ensured the game went to spot-kicks which Llanfair won 7-6.

In round three, two goals from James Broadbent were enough for Llangedwyn to see off division two rivals Llanfechain 2-1 who scored through Rob Edwards

In the remaining Division Two match, Morda Reserves beat Trefonen 5-0.
