Former Wrexham midfielder Iwan Cartwright signed for Newtown on the eve of the new JD Sports Welsh Premier League season and will be in the squad for tonight’s opener at Bala.
Cartwright, who turned 21 on Wednesday, has spent pre-season with the club and has put in a string of fine displays during friendly matches.
Chris Hughes was impressed by what he saw from the youngster and has completed the signing of the player who has had experience at Nuneaton and Colwyn Bay.
Having lost key players during the close season manager Chris Hughes moved quickly to bolster his attacking options. He made Nick Rushton's loan permanent and signed proven Welsh Premier League goalscorer Jamie Reed.
Both have been scoring in pre-season and Hughes hopes they can keep scoring goals, which proved to be a problem in the first phase last season.
There will be new look about the Caersws side which entertains FC Queens Park in the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance on Saturday with six out and seven in.
Manager Graham Evans drafted in late signings Gavin Samuel and Tom Bethell from Rhayader this week to add to Luke Sherborn (Aberystwyth), Ross Stephens (Newtown), Steve Blenkinsop (Cefn Druids), Craig Whitfield (Haughmond) and Aaron Hughes-Jones (TNS)
