Chairman confident of avoiding relegation

Chairman Mike Jones is confident that Newtown can get clear of the Welsh Premier League relegation trapdoor if the side  continues the current form.
And as the club prepares to welcome former player Tom Morgan and his Carmarthen side to Latham Park Jones in another relegation six pointer he sees a bright future.
Jones was massively impressed by the performance at Bala last Friday and for an hour against Haverfordwest.
"Phase 2 of the season is certain to be exciting and will be as much a test of nerve and character as skill and ability - and that's just the supporters," he said.
"Our last home game against Haverfordwest will linger in the memory forever. 60 minutes of great football - 4 good goals - 1 game won. Then comes30 minutes of football suicide - 4 goals conceded and 'defeat' snatched from the jaws of victory. (well, it felt like a defeat at the time!!!).
"I have never seen players and supporters so stunned by such a dramatic turn of events.
"Last Friday we took on Bala at Maes Tegid with just a little  trepidation but we need not have worried. The team played with great confidence, dominated the first half and scored two good goals.
"Bala pressed hard after the break but we turned in a very mature performance to nullify the Bala attack.
"So, after six months and 21 games we had finally won a game. A ridiculous statistic for a team that has played so well in recent months. The three points were obviously most welcome but the quality of performance will encourage us all to believe that better times lie ahead."
