Berriew start in style

Berriew started the 2017-18 season in fine style by lifting the Spar Mid Wales League Summer Cup.

The villagers beat Carno 2-1 away to take the silverware back to their Rhiewside headquarters to the delight of manager David Jones.

Just down the road Caersws brought their pre-season fixtures to a close with a 3-1 win over Llanfair at the Recreation Ground thanks to goals from Gavin Samuel, Rhydian Davis and Ross Stephens.

Newtown are ready to start their Welsh Premier League challenge after beating Evo-Stick League side Newcastle Town 3-2 at Latham Park, thanks to goals from Jamie Reed, Nick Rushton and Leon Clowes.
