Former Welsh Premier League referee Howard Ellis has been elected chairman of Newtown Football Club.
After two stints as chairman, Elwyn Preece has stepped down from the hot seat, with former club secretary and steward Howard Ellis taking over the reigns.
He served as secretary in the early years of the Welsh Premier League, working alongside the long serving Keith Harding and prior to that Howard was a well respected Welsh Premier League referee.
Since his role as secretary, he has still maintained an active role in the club, helping out in the background as well as being a regular steward and gate man.
Howard was delighted to take over the role, and said: "I am really proud to be representing Newtown Football Club having been involved in football all my life and specifically with the club for the past 20 years.
"It is a great privilege to follow in the footsteps of some well respected chairman and I hope I can fulfil the role as well as my predecessors.
Two new members Dave Mills-Evans and Dan Baker have also joined the board of directors at Latham Park.
