Bluebirds miss out on Cup final

Guilsfield can look forward to an end of season Huws Gray Alliance Cup final after a goal in each half was enough to see them past Caersws at Cefn Druids on Wednesday night.

The Bluebirds have suffered a blow with striker Neil Mitchell having his appendix out the night before and they were lacking the cutting edge against an impressive Guilsfield side.

A Rich Astley strike on 44 minutes separated the sides after a closely fought first half, but the second half belonged to Guilsfield who should have had more than a solitary Ross Frame strike to show for their efforts.

A combination of poor finishing and great goalkeeping from Alex Ramsay kept the scoreline respectable as Frame in particular was guilty of failing to administer the killer blow.

But Frame did find a breakthrough on 61 minutes, combining well with strike partner Chris Roberts to smash home from 20 yards.

The 2-0 victory means Guilsfield can book a final date in May against either Porthmadog or Buckley.
