Newtown have landed their second new signing of the Welsh Premier League transfer window with the arrival of Guilsfield defender Sam Litchfield.

The 24-year-old joins the Robins after two years with the Huws Gray Alliance side, helping them to a top five finish in his first season at the club.

Litchfield was signed by Guils boss Danny Barton from West Midland League outfit St Martins, and previous to that the centre half had stints with Shropshire clubs Weston Rhyn and Morda United.

Robins boss Chris Hughes said: "Sam is a player we've been watching for a while, we saw him a couple of times last season and liked what we saw.

"He's strong, got pace, and is someone who can fit in well for us here. He wanted to play at he highest level and were delighted to be able to give him a chance at this level.

"He also adds competition for places at the the back, and helps further bolster the squad ahead of pre-season."
