Fletcher is 5th to quit Newtown

Newtown´s player of the season, Alex Fletcher, has become the fifth player to leave the club in the close season.

Fletcher, who signed for the Robins last summer, after a career which begun with Shrewsbury Town, has quit Latham Park to sign for Southport.

He broke into the Robins starting line-up early in the campaign, and was credited with playing a big part in the Robins rise from the foot of the table, to the play-off final.

The midfielder scored four times in 26 starts and four substitute appearances.

Club captain Shane Sutton has signed for Telford, Golden Boot winner Jason Oswell has moved to Stockport, Steffan Edwards has signed for Airbus and Ross Stephens has left the club to seek a new opportunity.
