The first major trophy of the season at St Giles Golf Club, the Waggon Cup, provided a dramatic finish with three golfers recording an excellent stableford 37 points.
Taking home the trophy was 2013 captain Alan Porter (6) after a card count-back pushing Michael Davies (16) into second with left-hander Keith Dorrell (7) in third.
The draw for the club’s three matchplay competitions has been made, and competitors are reminded that the preliminary round in the Morley Hughes singles event has to be completed by May 7 so matches should be arranged without delay.
This week sees the ever-popular Infirmary Cup with tee off at 9am and 1pm for the event which is played as a bogey competition.
