Hughes named top boss

24/02/2017 @ 08:51

Newtown boss Chris Hughes has been named as the Dafabet Welsh Premier League manager of the month for January/February, breaking a run of six consecutive awards for The New Saints' chief Craig Harrison.

The Robins drew their final game in Phase 1 against TNS, becoming the first side to take a point from the champions-elect this season, and have built on that result by winning all three of their fixtures so far in the second phase to clinb out of the relegation zone.

Newtown have beaten Llandudno and Cefn Druids away from home as well as defeating Rhyl at Latham Park but have no fixture today as the focus switches to the Welsh Cup quarter finals where they suffered an early exit.

Llanfair look to create even more history by reaching the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup for the first time, having already passed a landmark by getting so far. But sitting between them and the semis are high flying Caernarfon Town. Their arrival on Mount Field will guarantee a big crowd tomorrow (Saturday).

Caersws boss Graham Evans has told his players to improve their home form ahead of the visit of Holyhead in the Huws Gray Alliance  and there’s a big Spar Mid Wales League showdown at Llanidloes where Carno are the visitors.
