Cai is top basketball talent

A 17-year-old Newtown basket ball enthusiast has been selected to attend a national talent camp at Loughborough University.

Cai Burr will be with the country’s top 350 most talented athletes, coaches and officials at the Youth Sport National Talent camp at Loughborough university from December 16-22.

Ten different sports will be represented and Cai has been put forward by the National governing body of basketball as an official.

Cai has refereed for basketball Wales and basketball England at regional level and his goal is to become one of the youngest FIBA referees for Great Britain.

Cai also plays National league basketball as well as local basketball with the Newtown Rams at Maldwyn Leisure Centre.
