Newtown fast bowler Craig Davies again led his side to a resounding Division One victory with a fine display at the weekend.

Davies followed up career best figures the previous week to take 4-18 as Beacon were bowled out for just 56. David Anthony and Ally Laird took three each as well before their batsmen made it home for the loss of five wickets.

Welshpool’s bowlers were in scintillating form as well in Division Two as they trounced Shrewsbury III by nine wickets.

Tom Anderson (3-9) and Allan Harris (3-32) made short work of the hosts batting which stumbled its way to 94 all out. That was easy pickings for Welshpool who lost just Adam Knight (29) on their way to victory. Matt Knight top scored with an unbeaten 61.

It was a frustrating day though for Montgomery who missed out on full points at Tibberton despite a century for Aaron Ruff-cock (102no). His efforts saw Monty through to a whopping 237-6 from their 40 overs, but the hosts held out on 74-8 despite Ruff-cock taking four wickets.

Ten-man Guilsfield were set 194-5 to chase at Acton Reynold in Division Four. Opener Gary Griffiths (34) got them off to a solid start but couldn’t find support as the villagers ended on 120 all out.

In the Reserve Divisions, there were winds for Montgomery II in Division Two and Newtown II in Division Three.
