Newtown picked up a massive point at home to champions The New Saints after taking a two-goal first half lead.
Andy Cale promised his side were capable of matching the best and they did with Sean Highdale firing them ahead with his first goal for the club after eight minutes.
Steve Jones then increased Town's advantage on 31 minutes only for The New Saints to pull a goal back five minutes later through Matty Williams.
The Robins looked capable of holding on for the win but Aeron Edwards, the former Caersws man, fired home after 78 minutes to spoil the Latham Park party.
