Caersws showed their never-say-die attitude with a dramatic midweek draw at home to Guilsfield and will hope the injury time leveller in the 1-1 draw will boost them ahead of another tough encounter at Flint Town United.
The Bluebirds, who have enjoyed a lofty league position for the first half of the season, have seen their rank slide through inactivity of late and have up to four games in hand on their rivals.
And they travel to Flint tomorrow without the suspended Richie Evans who was dismissed in midweek.
Meanwhile, both Chris Herbert and Russell Cadwallader feel they are battling Lady Luck in their fights for survival.
The managers of Technogroup Welshpool and Guilsfield respectively are in charge of two of the toughest teams to beat in the Huws Gray Alliance and yet both are facing a tough survival fight after a week of last-minute heartbreak.
The Lilywhites cursed their luck first, throwing away a 2-1 lead to go down 3-2 late on against league leaders Connah’s Quay on Saturday, and then Guilsfield saw a vital three points lost in injury time at Caersws.
It was frustrating stuff for both managers who must regroup.
“We have had a few decent results, and should have won on Saturday, but we threw that away against the league leaders and you get nothing for being unlucky,” said Chris Herbert whose side are in Huws Gray Alliance action against Llandudno.
Guilsfield, meanwhile, are in Central Wales Cup fourth round action and entertain Spar Division One side Bow Street.
Cadwallader will have to reshuffle his midfield with both Rich Astley and John Harris out and he hopes his side can put the midweek disappointment behind them.
“It was hugely frustrating not to win on Tuesday,” said Cadwallader. “Things go against you when you are the bottom but we need to put it behind us and get on with it.”
Another fourth round tie will see Dyffryn Banw look to upset high flying Alliance side Penrhyncoch.
Holders Waterloo Rovers still have their third round tie to complete at Meifod while Llanrhaeadr travel to Penparcau at the same stage.
In the Spar Division One, Carno can make up some ground when they travel to Dolgellau Athletic while inconsistent Llanidloes Town play struggling Presteigne.
In the Spar Division Two, Llanfyllin Town travel to out-of-sorts Abermule and Llanfair United entertain Llandrindod Wells. Kerry host Aberaeron looking to take advantage of Montgomery not being in action.
Montgomeryshire Amateur League sides will be playing a mixture of League, Montgomeryshire Cup, Emrys Morgan Cup and Tanners Town Cup action with the pick of the games seeing Caersws Reserves take on neighbours Llanidloes Reserves in a first against second Division One encounter.
