Man suffers three inch gash in group assault

A man received a three-inch cut to his arm during an unprovoked attack by a large group of men in the St Mary's Close area of Newtown town centre.

Police said the "young man" was attacked by the group at around 3.30pm on Sunday.

"The victim was struck by a glass bottle causing a three inch cut to his left arm," said a Newtown Police spokesperson.

Police have asked anyone who might have been in the area or seen anything around the time of the incident to contact them by telephoning 101.
