Theatr Hafren is to close for six months for a £812,000 facelift.
Tenders have been sought to update the stage and facilities behind the scenes.
Powys County Council has awarded £812,000 for the work to enable the venue to meet increasingly stringent legislation and continue to host the range of entertainment it has become known for.
The theatre will close on April 10 and will re-open on September 7 with Mid Wales Opera’s new production of ‘Madam Butterfly’.
The exciting plans are for a bigger stage and a refurbished backstage dressing room area.
