Back to the future in Newtown

If you rely on Newtown's town clock for the time you might be either late or early for your next appointment.

Today, the clock appears to either be nearly three hours ahead or nine hours behind in its time.

It's understood the recent power cuts caused by Storm Barney caused problems to the self timing mechanism which has caused the clock to display the wrong time.

Newtown Town Council, which has responsibility for the clock, said it was aware of the situation.

"We have someone coming out to sort it out today," he said.

A clock repairer is due to fix the problem this afternoon in time for tomorrow's official Christmas lights switch on and Kicking Off Christmas event from 2pm.
