Deadline day for Census jobs

26/01/2011 @ 11:53

Plenty of temporary jobs are up for grabs when the Census is carried out in the Newtown area in March.

The Census is a count of the population in the UK when each 10 years every resident is asked the same questions on the same day to give a complete picture of the nation. This information helps central and local governments make key decisions about future policies, planning, services and funding for local communities.

The 2011 Census is taking place on March 27 and will aim to count every resident or visitor in England and Wales on that date.  The form usually only takes minutes to fill in, but the information it gives is used to decide the allocation of billions of pounds of public money.  The Office of National Statistics processes the data to produce statistics, but it doesn't release any individual data to anyone for 100 years.

The Powys census team is still looking for more people for collection, survey and non-compliance roles.  Hours available are 15, 25 or 37 per week to suit, and located across the county.  The final deadline for most roles is today and further information about census jobs is available at www.censusjobs.co.uk
