Work replacing a mains gas pipeline in part of Newtown is continuing this week, despite promises it would end by Sunday.
The work by Wales and West Utilities has been going on for several months along Cambrian Way and into Commercial Street.
Today, it remains in place on the Crescent Street roundabout where traffic signals have been used for several weeks.
Montgomeryshire AM, Russell George, yesterday contacted Powys County Council to ask what was happening after he was assured work would be completed by this week.
He raised the issue due to residents in Commercial Street raising concerns about traffic issues in the area.
Wales and West Utilities had originally said the work would be completed by the 28th September when in August they confirmed it was going to take longer than the end of the summer to complete.
However, it is understood unforeseen technical issues with drains where the new pipeline is being laid had caused the delays.
Wales and West Utilities and Powys County Council are expected to confirm the latest completion date today.
