No election for vacant town council seat

An election will not now be held next week for a vacant Newtown Town Council seat after only one person stood for the ward.

Peter Hough, representing the Welsh Liberal Democrats, has been elected unopposed for the East Ward.

One MyNewtown reader commented via social media messaging: "Everyone seems to comment and have a say as to how things can be done better in Newtown and yet nobody's willing to stand for a town council seat to be seen and counted for their views. It's a shame."
