Montgomeryshire resident William Hague made a Lord

Former Foreign Secretary William Hague is join the House of Lords.

Mr Hague, who recently moved in to his new home at Cyfronydd between Llanfair Caereinion and Welshpool, has been named as a peer in a list published by the government.

There had been speculation Mr Hague would remain outside politics after resigning as an MP before the General Election so he could spend more time with his wife Ffion, whose father was from Montgomeryshire, and working on his writing and speeches, as well as business interests.

He and his wife recently moved into their home following its restoration.
