Two trains strike sheep on Cambrian Railway

29/07/2015 @ 09:28

Three sheep have been killed after two train services along the Cambrian Railway between Newtown and Welshpool struck a flock in separate incidents.

In the first incident a flock of sheep were struck on yesterday's 14.09 service between Birmingham International and Aberystwyth on the line in which three sheep died.

There was no damage to the train and no passengers were injured.

The service was allowed to proceed after an inspection.

But in another incident along the same stretch of track, the 15.30 Aberystwyth to Birmingham International struck a flock of sheep, causing delays.

A spokesman for Arriva Trains said nobody was injured in either incident and the train in the second accident was inspected and allowed to continue.

He said the track had been inspected after the first incident and no sheep could be found, but they believe the same flock had returned to the tracks in between.

All services are running normally today.
