Local charity seeks new "Friends"

20/05/2015 @ 07:50

A local charity is stepping up its efforts to recruit new members for its ‘Friends’ group.

A Voice for You provides advocacy for people with a learning disability in Montgomeryshire.

They have recently set up a ‘friends’ group to support them at social activities, and with fundraising and awareness raising.

Kerri Brady, one of the founder members of the group (seen pictured with Jean Bailey) explains how people can get involved.

“There are lots of ways volunteers can get involved. I’ve recently helped put hampers together for the prize bingo in the Monty Club on May 26th and I hope that with the help of some new volunteers we can organise more events to raise money to ensure the continuation of this important organisation.”

Present members of the group will be getting together in the Elephant and Castle Hotel in Newtown on Tuesday, 9th June at 7pm and would love to welcome some new members.

A Voice for You Co-ordinator Jean Bailey said: “We would love to welcome new volunteers to join our friends group.

“Our social events and fundraising activities are great fun as well as a good source of income for us.

“If you would like to find out more about what we do give us a ring on 01686 629951 or just come along on 9 June to join us.”
