Plaid chief moving to Llanfair

Plaid Cymru's chief executive is giving up her career and will move to live in Llanfair Caereinion.

Gwenllian Lansdown is agiving up her council seat in Cardiff's Riverside ward before getting married and moving to mid Wales.

She will stay on as the party's chief until after May's assembly elections.

A council spokeswoman said notice of the vacancy will be published, inviting any two electors to request an election.

Ms Lansdown said it had been a "tremendous honour and privilege" to represent the ward.

She is due to get married in the summer and will move to Llanfair Caereinion, Powys.

Plaid is part of Cardiff council's coalition administration.

Ms Lansdown said the move meant would have been "impossible" to continue as a councillor in Riverside.
