Have you claimed your energy rebate?

Residents in Newtown could miss out on a £12 energy rebate, the town's Citizens Advice Bureau has warned.

While it might not sound much, £12 can make a difference and many residents on pre-paid electricity meters could miss out.

"Last year the government announced a £12 electricity rebate for domestic electricity customers," said a Newtown CAB spokesperson.

"Customers who pay by direct debit or receive bills should have had this amount automatically credited to their accounts.

"Some customers who pay using pre-payment meters will have received a voucher to redeem when topping up. The deadline to receive the rebate is 28th February, so customers with vouchers that are yet to be redeemed should act now."

A second £12 rebate is due this autumn.

Powys CAB is offering residents energy appointments at its office in Ladywell House, Newtown, when they can offer advice and provide information on energy bills or where people are struggling with payments.

An appointment can be made by telephoning 01686 617667.
