Regent Cinema ends closure fears

The Regent Cinema has re-opened this weekend ending fears that the town had lost another vital service.

Rumours began circulating before Christmas that the cinema would close but it re-opened on Friday and looks set to stay with a season of blockbusters heading Newtown’s way.

Mynewtown contacted the Regent Centre, where the cinema has been housed since 1937, and an employee confirmed that it opened Friday but did not give a specific reason for its temporary closure over the Festive Period.

The two films showing this week are ‘Three Days Later’ and ‘Meet the Parents: Little Fockers’.
