Train passengers are waking up to big delays in the Newtown area this morning after flooding disrupted Arriva Trains services along the Cambrian Railway Line.

Flooding between Newtown and Machynlleth means the services have been cancelled, although the rail operating company says it hopes to resume later this morning.

A statement from Arriva Trains said: “Due to flooding between Machynlleth and Newtown the line is closed.

"Train services through these stations may be subject to disruption on all routes. Disruption is expected until 10am.

“Due to flooding trains are unable to run between Machynlleth and Newtown.

"Replacement road transport will run betwen these two stations. Journey times may be extended by up to 80 minutes.
